Notra Dame Football Traditions

There are many football traditions that have been carried year by year at Notre Dame. The Irish have an incredible history and continue to fight for the win each and every game.

One of the many football traditions that has been carried on over the years is the fun weekend traditions. Every Friday before the game, there is a pep rally in the stadium to get the fans fired up. Each Friday before a home game, the trumpet section plays inside the Golden Dome of the administration building, again getting fans excited for the big game. The team always attends a pre-game mass together on Saturday, and then walks over to the stadium. Ninety minutes before the game, the band has a concert on the steps of the Bond Hall. After the band plays, cheerleaders and the mascot march over to the stadium. Each kickoff, the fans shout the "Go Irish" cheer, and after each touchdown, fans lift each other above their heads, and they also stand the entire game. Mass is held 30 minutes after the game. There are also special candlelit dinners for hungry fans in the North and South Dining Halls.

This is just some of the many football traditions that Notre Dame has. Notre Dame takes their football very seriously, and even more so do their faithful fans. They have a legacy at that school, and will continue to carry on the traditions that have been going on for years.
