When one thinks of Notre Dame, football is the first thing that comes to mind. Notre Dame is the home to countless great teams and players. The team of Indiana has the most recorded national championships in college football history and has turned out the most All-Americans in college football history, as well.

To top those amazing accomplishments off, Notre Dame has produced seven players who have gone on to win the Hesiman Trophy, the most coveted award in college football. Also, the Notre Dame football team has had the most players and coaches inducted into the college football Hall of Fame with a total of 47. Even more impressive, Notre Dame has produced the most players ever to go on to play in the NFL with an updated total of 463 players as of the 2008 draft.

Notre Dame is only one of two catholic schools to play at the highest level of football, Division I, along with Boston College. The "Fighting Irish" play their games in front of a capacity crowd of 80,795 screaming fans in "The House that Rockne Built." Notre Dame has been a tradition of football since their inaugural game 121 years ago in 1887.

Truly any person who looks at the stats and credentials of the Notre Dame football team can see that "The Irish" are truly one of the most prestigious teams in all of sports history. It will be exciting to see what the future holds for them.
